Representatives of the Central Administration and the Unicamp Workers' Union (STU) met this Friday morning (15) to discuss issues relating to the functioning of the health sector, affected by the strike by University employees. Last Wednesday (13), the judge of the 1st Public Finance Court, Mauro Iuji Fukumoto, granted an injunction at the request of Unicamp in which he determined that 70% of employees continue providing care to the population, mainly in urgent and emergency cases.
The measure covers the Hospital de Clínicas (HC), Women's Hospital Professor José Aristodemo Pinotti (Caism), Hematology and Hemotherapy Center (Hemocentro), Center for Diagnosis of Diseases of the Digestive System (Gastrocentro) and Community Health Center (Cecom ). The STU questioned how Unicamp would operationalize the service. The head of the Rectory's Office, Joaquim Murray Bustorff Silva, and the head of the Health Area Executive Board (DEAS), Manoel Barros Bertolo, informed that the University will guide the managers of the health units to comply with the injunction issued by the Court.
The Chief of Staff noted, however, that the teams must be assembled in a balanced way, that is, integrated by professionals from different specialties and functions, so that there is no harm to the quality of assistance provided to users. Joaquim Bustorff Silva also committed to contacting the Regional Health Directorates (DRS) to request that they reduce the referral of patients with less complex conditions to the University's health units for the duration of the strike.
At the meeting, the director of DEAS assured the STU representatives that the Central Administration respects the civil servants' right to strike, but considered that the movement must follow legal standards. Manoel Bertolo reaffirmed to unionists their willingness to maintain dialogue around workers' specific demands. Preliminarily, the two parties scheduled a new meeting for next Monday (18), at 16 pm, to continue the talks.
