Continuing the commitment to maintain an open dialogue with the Unicamp Workers' Union (STU), the University's Central Administration received representatives from the union this Thursday morning (28), at its request, to provide clarifications on the latest proposal presented to technical-administrative employees, who have been on strike for 35 days. The unionists were received by the Rectory's chief of staff, Joaquim Murray Bustorff Silva, and by the coordinator of the Economics and Planning Advisory (Aeplan), Thiago Baldini da Silva.
At the time, union leaders asked for details about the University's procedures in relation to recording absences for employees who joined the strike. The chief of staff explained that, by legal force, the institution has to record the absences of those who are not showing up for work. He reaffirmed, however, that the Administration is open to negotiating the replacement of stopped days or accumulated work as soon as the movement ends.
In cases where there is an agreement in this regard, explained Bustorff Silva, Unicamp will arrange for the preparation of a supplementary payroll, to immediately compensate any amounts deducted. “There is no deliberate willingness by the Central Administration to impose financial discounts on workers, but as public agents we have to follow what the legislation determines,” he said.
The STU also asked for more information about the calculation method that will be used to calculate the 10% of the excess ICMS collection in 2018, minus the 1,5% adjustment and the increase in food assistance, which will be allocated to career plans of teachers, staff and researchers, on an annualized basis from the second budget review. Thiago Baldini detailed what the procedures will be, which eliminated the doubts of STU representatives.
Although the meeting was to provide clarifications and not negotiation, the unionists proposed to the Central Administration the increase of the adjustment offered for food assistance, from R$ 100 to R$ 200. The chief of staff considered that the meeting did not have the objective of discussing proposals. Bustorff Silva ratified the proposals presented by the Rectory and recalled that they are only valid until this Friday (29).
The member of the Central Administration once again reminded union members that the institution is working with a budget deficit of around R$239 million for 2018, and that it is not possible to go beyond what has already been offered, under penalty of permanent expenses not being met. in the future. Bustorff Silva asked for workers' understanding of the difficult times the University is going through. “Right now, we cannot move forward with our proposals. This does not, however, prevent us from maintaining dialogue and resuming negotiations as soon as the budget situation is more favorable”.
