Representatives from the Rectory and the Unicamp Workers' Union (STU) met on Thursday afternoon (19) to discuss issues relating to the strike of technical-administrative employees, officially ended by the category on July 11. At the meeting, unionists requested that the University cancel the notice of absence from work for employees who did not return to work in the days immediately following the end of the movement.
The Rectory's chief of staff, professor Joaquim Murray Bustorff Silva, explained to union leaders that Unicamp cannot pay for days not worked outside the context of the strike, under penalty of committing illegality. He recalled that Unicamp strictly complied with the agreement signed with the workers.
The agreement provided for the issuance of a supplementary sheet and the consequent definition of a compensation plan for days not worked during the strike, either through replacement of hours or accumulated work, where applicable. “This was done, with the commitment that the servers would return to work on the 12th, Thursday. It turns out that a portion of the category only resumed their positions on the following Monday, the 16th”, pondered the chief of staff.
The STU claimed that many civil servants did not come to work immediately after the end of the movement because they did not have financial resources. Given the argument, Bustorff asked the Union to prepare a letter requesting the cancellation of absences, but attaching a list of employees who fell into this situation. “That way, we can analyze it case by case. The Rectory will have no problem canceling the absence note in relation to those who justify their absence”, he assured. The STU was to forward the document as soon as possible.
