Unicamp is launching another undergraduate course: Transport Engineering will be offered at night, with 55 places, on the campus of the Unicamp Faculty of Technology (FT), in Limeira. The news was presented to the community and journalists during the launch ceremony of the Unicamp 2019 Entrance Exam, in the auditorium of the General Directorate of Administration (DGA). Registration for the entrance exam began this Wednesday (1) and continues until August 31st (see here the details).
“There are very few Transport Engineering courses in the country. We recently saw the importance of the issue of logistics with the truck drivers' strike, how fundamental this training is for the development of Brazil”, highlighted the rector of Unicamp Marcelo Knobel. According to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Eliana Amaral, FT already has professionals who can provide support for the new Transport Engineering course.
Unicamp has diversified its ways of entering undergraduate courses, but the entrance exam is still the main system, which corresponds to 80% of the places available. There are 3340 places in 69 courses. The entrance exam will have an ethnic-racial quota system and will maintain the bonus system of the Affirmative Action and Social Inclusion Program (PAAIS) for public school students. The other admission systems are the Indigenous Entrance Exam, vacancies filled by the Enem-Unicamp Notice and also vacancies filled based on performance in scientific Olympiads and knowledge competitions, in addition to the Higher Interdisciplinary Training Program (ProFis). (Visit).
At the launch of the Unicamp 2019 Vestibular, the coordinator of the Permanent Commission for Vestibulars (Comvest) José Alves de Freitas Neto spoke about other news, such as the expansion of test locations. They will be applied again in Curitiba and Salvador. “We will hold the entrance exam in the Northeast region in two capitals: Salvador and Fortaleza. In the South, in Curitiba; Southeast, in São Paulo and Belo Horizonte; and Central-West, in Brasília. If we consider the Indigenous Entrance Exam, with tests in Manaus and São Miguel da Cachoeira, Unicamp goes to the five regions of the country to carry out its tests”.
There were no changes in relation to the formats of the tests in the first and second phases. For the second phase only, Unicamp wants more candidates in the race, increasing it to at least six candidates per vacancy, regardless of the candidate's grade. Exemption from the Entrance Exam registration fee of 170 reais, reached 7 thousand candidates. There is still the possibility of a 50% exemption for a category of unemployed students or those who earn less than two minimum wages. In this case, the exemption can be requested by accessing the Comvest page from August 8th to 10th.
“We hope that Unicamp continues to be a reference University in the country and in Latin America, seeking to attract the best students, and that these students can be welcomed at a university that is representative of society”, stated Freitas Neto.
For rector Marcelo Knobel, Unicamp is seeking, with all the changes, “a democratic environment, of plurality, with dialogue and respect for others, a culture of peace and respect for human rights”.
Comvest developed a system for each of the assessment processes for admission to undergraduate courses: Entrance Exam, Indigenous Entrance Exam, Enem Notice and Olympics Notice. The candidate may participate in more than one system, depending on their profile.
“I believe that the final formula that we managed to develop will continue to attract the best students, based on merit and, in addition, we will be able to have a more reliable representation of the entire society within Unicamp, including students with lower family income, black, brown, indigenous and people with disabilities” said Knobel.
