On the instructions of the Civil Police, the central administration of Unicamp released this Thursday (16) images from the internal camera circuit showing a suspect responsible for graffiti of a Nazi nature and in support of violence in the library of the Institute of Language Studies (IEL), Institute of Geosciences (IG), Central Library (BC) and Ciclo Básico (CB). The material has also been made available to the Civil Police, which is conducting the investigations. Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about who committed the act should contact Campus Surveillance on 35216000.
On Wednesday (15), graffiti was found on the walls and computers of the IEL and in the men's bathroom of the IG. This Thursday (16), after a new survey, graffiti with the same characteristics were also found in BC and CB. In addition to registering the case with the police, the central administration also opened an internal investigation to investigate the case.
The images show a man in dark clothes with a suspicious attitude walking around the IEL library. After entering through the main door, he touches a bag that was on top of one of the cabinets at the entrance of the building. In one of the images, he appears taking an object similar to a red marker-type pen out of his pocket. The graffiti were made with a pen of this type, with a permanent red marker.
The Unicamp Rectory strongly condemns the act of vandalism and will take all measures to investigate the fact and ensure that the perpetrator is identified and duly prosecuted inside and outside the University. More serious than the damage caused to public property are the symbolism of the drawings and the content of the messages, which are totally incompatible with Unicamp's values and absolutely unacceptable within the scope of an academic community that values democracy, peace and diversity.
