The Rectory of Unicamp strongly condemns the acts of vandalism committed at the Institute of Language Studies (IEL) and the Institute of Geosciences (IG) on Tuesday night (14), when an individual drew swastikas and wrote racist messages and advocating violence on computer screens, walls, tables and toilets at the Antonio Cândido Library, and in the men's bathroom at the IG.
More serious than the damage caused to public property are the symbolism of the drawings and the content of the messages, which are totally incompatible with Unicamp's values and absolutely unacceptable within the scope of an academic community that values democracy, peace and diversity.
The Rectory will take all measures to investigate the fact and will provide all necessary support to both units to ensure that the perpetrator of these deplorable acts is identified and duly prosecuted inside and outside the University.
This Wednesday (15), Unicamp decided to open an investigation to investigate the case, the University's surveillance began analyzing images from the internal camera circuit to try to identify the author of the graffiti and a police report will be registered with the Civil Police.
