“La Traviata”, by Giuseppe Verdi, one of the most popular operas of all time, will have four performances at Theatro Municipal de Paulínia, starting this Thursday, the 6th, at 20 pm. The event can be watched on Friday (7), Saturday (8), at the same time and on Sunday (9), at 18 pm. It is carried out by the Unicamp Center for Integration, Documentation and Cultural Diffusion (Ciddic), which relies on the work of its stable artistic bodies: Unicamp Symphony Orchestra, Unicamp Zíper na Boca Choir, Campinas Contemporary Choir and Ópera Estúdio Unicamp.
Inspired by the Parisian play “The Lady of the Camellias”, by Alexandre Dumas, the opera was premiered in 1853 at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The theme, which criticizes bourgeois values and questions the limits of love, served as fuel for current cinema classics, such as the film “Pretty Woman”, with Julia Roberts, and the musical “Moulin Rouge”, with Nicole Kidman.
Directed by Angelo José Fernandes, general coordinator of the project; Felipe Venâncio, stage director and set designer; and Cinthia Alireti, musical director and conductor, the opera mobilizes more than one hundred artists from OSU, Coral Unicamp Zíper na Boca, Coro Contemporâneo de Campinas and Ópera Estúdio Unicamp. The sponsorship is from the Social Benefits Management Group (GGBS) of Unicamp, by through a notice that made 30 thousand reais available for assembly.
La Traviata will be on stage, complete, as was the case with The Magic Flute (2017), The Elixir of Love (2016), Don Giovanni (2015) and The Marriage of Figaro (2014). “We do one opera a year now. Even in 2018, with this crisis. It is our greatest pride to be able to stage the opera because at first it would only be a partially staged version of the concert”, said conductor Cinthia.
