Planned since last year, the meeting of the second class of Unicamp students, the 1968 entrants, will take place this Saturday, the 22nd, starting at 8:30 am, at the University's Convention Center. More than 200 people are expected, including former students and family members. A breakfast, ecumenical service and formal ceremony to celebrate the class's golden jubilee are scheduled at the venue, with tributes to former teachers. It is then planned to plant a white jequitibá tree in the Ciclo Básico square, close to the arena theater. Everyone has lunch at Casa do Professor Visitante, the same place as happy hour, which starts in the early evening.
The group that heads the organization of the event, made up of nine people, is led by Frederico Atílio, known as Fred, a retired computer scientist. He asks meeting participants to bring period photos. This week, in audio from Rádio Web Unicamp, rector Marcelo Knobel, who will open the event, recalled that the class of 1968 was the first to take the entrance exam to enter the University. The one in 1967 was small and admission occurred based on other criteria. “The meeting preserves the memory of Unicamp, of the people who helped build it”, highlighted Knobel. .
