With ten kilos less than the previous prototype, an aerodynamic package implemented for the first time, and using a cylindrical battery that offers better performance, the team's new electric car was launched E-Racing from Unicamp, made up of students from different undergraduate courses. The car named “E2018” is expected to debut at the 15th Competition - Formula SAE Brasil Petrobras 2018, held between November 29th and December 2nd in Piracicaba. The national engineering competition will qualify teams to compete in the global competition taking place in Lincoln, in the United States.

Unicamp students are seeking their sixth national championship and their third world championship. According to Felipe Cândido, one of the team's drivers, dynamic and static tests are carried out in the competition. Students need to present and justify the project, detail its costs and the solutions developed. The dynamic test evaluates the car's acceleration, efficiency, speed and range, among other requirements. Around 15 university teams are expected to compete in Formula SAE Brasil.

At the car's presentation event, called Rollout, more than 70 students involved in the project and the team's sponsors took to the stage in the auditorium of the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM) to pose next to the prototype. The launch was on Wednesday the 21st. Films made by students were shown contextualizing the issue of mobility and the team's work. Two speakers also spoke about innovations related to the topic.

“We create technology for electric mobility. We are training engineers who have all the knowledge necessary for the development of electric cars in Brazil”, highlighted Felipe. The student highlighted that all the work is done as a team by the students and that the aim is to create an electrically powered vehicle solution that will be adopted throughout the world.

The team has a series of sponsorships, but also maintains research and development of new cars with resources raised by a collective fund, a project called Loading the Future (access).
