Dean Marcelo Knobel received a visit this Friday morning (15) from Ricardo Anido, head of the Higher Education Coordination of the Secretariat of Economic Development of the State of São Paulo. The objective of the meeting was to strengthen dialogue between Unicamp and the State Government. Anido is a professor at the University's Computing Institute (IC).
According to the rector, the meeting served to start discussions around the formulation of a common agenda and also about the ways in which Unicamp can collaborate with the São Paulo government. “The intention is to expand dialogue between state universities and the government. I think we can take advantage of this closer relationship to benefit both parties”, said Anido, who has already visited Unesp and will be at USP next week.
Anido stated that despite knowing the universities and their leaders, this type of meeting is important to institutionally mark the beginning of the new administration of the São Paulo government. According to him, the main guidelines of João Dória's government in the area of higher education are to increase the quality of graduates, increase research productivity and increase interaction between the productive sector and universities. “Unicamp, Unesp and USP already do this, but we believe it is possible to do more, in order to help the State of São Paulo grow”, he noted.
