Unicamp's most formal and important space, the University Council room, was filled with music and relaxation last Friday (2), at the launch of the 9th Edition of the student-artist Program. Promoted by the Student Support Service (SAE), the program aims to encourage the artistic and cultural production of students on undergraduate courses at Unicamp, through the granting of scholarships for the development of projects. The program integrates actions to support student retention at the University.
During the ceremony, rector Marcelo Knobel highlighted the quality of the work he had the opportunity to see throughout the year and called on students to defend the University with their art. “You are important showcases for the university and, more than ever, we need to show society the importance of public, autonomous and quality universities,” he said.
The dean of undergraduate studies, Eliana Amaral, highlighted the importance of art for the academic environment. “It's great to see the room full of students committed to projects that will contribute, not only to their academic development, but to creating a more empathetic environment within the University. This makes all the difference at a university. The educational environment is one of the most important factors in students’ good performance,” she said.
The projects in this edition include the areas of music, poetry, performing arts, visual and audiovisual arts, involving students from the most diverse courses at the University. “In this edition, for the first time we have FT and FCA projects included, one in music, the other in visual arts”, he said. Maria Claudia Alves Guimarães, SAE Cultural Advisor, who is responsible for monitoring students during the development of projects.
“In the last edition we had some innovations. One of them is the holding of the Student-Artist Exhibition held at Cilco Básico, at Casa do Lago, at the Institute of Arts, and also on the campuses of Piracicaba and Limeira, FOP, FT and FCA”, reported acSAE coordinator, Helena Altmann.
Another new feature of the last edition, which remains the same, is the partnership with Sesc, in the "Pra Begin de Conversation" project. Through it, students have the opportunity to present their work at Sesc, after completing the project at Unicamp. “It aims to continue the student-artist’s project”, explained Claudia. At this stage, students have contact with other stages of the artistic process, such as production and technique, in addition to receiving payment from Sesc for their presentations.
During the ceremony, the students who completed the 8th edition projects were honored and the new proponents were presented. The closing was in charge of the Naidí Project, which infected everyone with its Latin swing.
