The Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC) in partnership with Canadian Solar are promoting, throughout this week, free 8-hour courses aimed at training professionals to work with photovoltaic energy, with a focus on installing panels.
The expectation is that, at the end of this module at Unicamp, 100 new professionals in photovoltaic energy will be trained. “Canadian Solar is the leader in the photovoltaic panel market and this market, here in Brazil, has grown a lot, year after year. But one of the obstacles to growing faster is, precisely, the lack of qualified people”, guarantees Luiz Carlos Pereira, professor at FEEC and one of the creators of the action. One of the largest global companies in the area of renewable energy, Canadian Solar recently invested R$2,3 billion in projects focused on the manufacturing and generation of photovoltaic energy in the country.
A relevant point of the program is that the training is not aimed solely at students, alumni or professionals at the University, but is open to anyone interested who has completed secondary education. “The photovoltaic energy market is expanding in the country, even in the face of the economic crisis. We realize that there is a demand for qualified professionals”, comments Toni Veladot, Product and Technical Support Manager at Canadian Solar. He says that, in addition to Unicamp, the Solar Energy Generation Course should tour Brazil.
