The Permanent Commission for Unicamp Entrance Exams (Comvest) released, this Thursday (18/9), the total number of applicants for the Unicamp 2020 Entrance Exam and the candidate-vacancy ratio per course. They are registered in the process, 72.859 candidates, who will compete for 2.570 places in 69 undergraduate courses. The percentage of students graduating from public schools increased from 30,9% to 32,2% this year, totaling 23.464 candidates. Last year, Unicamp had registered a total of 76.312 applicants for the entrance exam. The entrance exam is responsible for 80% of Unicamp's undergraduate admissions. The remaining 20% (639 vacancies) are filled through the Enem-Unicamp modality, registration for which begins on October 21st.
The director of Comvest, José Alves de Freitas Neto praised the greater presence of students trained in public schools and stated that the number is “the result of a continuous action of visits to schools and also the greater awareness of these students that it is possible to enter a reference university”, he commented.
José Alves also highlighted the growth of applicants in all the capitals of the country where Unicamp administers the entrance exams, in addition to São Paulo. “The data indicates that the university is consolidating itself as an option for students across the country,” he said.

Regarding the variation in the total number of subscribers, from 76 to 72 thousand, the director of Comvest considered the rate of 4% to be within normal limits. “The variation is within a seasonality, in addition, we have the persistence of the economic crisis, which leaves families apprehensive and which may have contributed to the fall”, stated José Alves.
However, the director highlighted that “even in a context of crisis and continuous attacks on public universities, Unicamp exceeded 72 thousand applicants, which highlights the strength of the University and the importance of maintaining its own entrance exam, considering that autonomy university preserves specific achievements and dynamics of public universities in São Paulo”, concluded José Alves.
