Research carried out in collaboration by Unicamp and USP results in an innovative product for dental treatment

In an article titled "Influence of AgVO3 incorporation on antimicrobial properties, hardness, roughness and adhesion of a soft denture liner", published in the journal Scientific Reports-Nature, researchers from the Solid State Chemistry Laboratory, the Unicamp Chemistry Institute and the Department of Dental Materials and Prosthetics at the Faculty of Dentistry at USP in Ribeirão Preto, proposed the use of silver vanadate nanomaterial decorated with silver nanoparticles (AgVO3) , incorporated into a relining material.

The modified relining material was efficient antimicrobial at concentrations of 1% and 2,5% of (AgVO3) only for the microorganism E. Faecalis, and 5% and 10% were effective for microorganisms E. faecalis, P. aeruginosa and C. albicans.
