
Approximately 100 black dolls, acquired in adulthood from the collector Loide de Souza Mafra, a retired psychologist at the Hospital de Clínicas (HC) of Unicamp, will be on display on the 21st and 22nd of November, in the entrance hall of the “Cesar Lattes” Central Library. ” (BCCL), on Sérgio Buarque de Holanda street, on the university campus. Visits are free.
The exhibition is organized by the Directorate of Culture (DCult), an organization of the Dean of Extension and Culture (Proec) and is part of the Unicamp Afro, an event that, since the beginning of November, aims to rescue and value the Afro-Brazilian traits that make up the construction of the country's identity, through activities such as workshops, lectures and cultural presentations. Unicamp Afro will end with the 1st Unicamp Afro-Brazilian Fair. [See full schedule].
The exhibition was at the Cultural Center for Inclusion and Cultural Integration (Cis-Guanabara), on which occasion the dolls were mentioned in a lecture on racism by the Doctor in Education and Master in Psychology, Kiusam de Oliveira. [Read]
