Unicamp's University Council (Consu) approved, in a session held on Tuesday (26), the creation of the Degree in Theater course. The University, with the new degree, passesIt will provide training for teachers in the performing arts area, who will be able to work in schools of all levels. The Degree will operate at night and there will be 25 places, offered from the 2021 entrance exam, which takes place at the end of 2020.
The course, which will operate at the Institute of Arts (IA), arises from a long-standing demand from the students themselves, explains the coordinator of the Graduation in Performing Arts, Rodrigo Spina, as Campinas and the region do not have educational institutions with degrees in this area. He also points out that the course proposal arises from a context of more than 30 years of experience in the Bachelor of Performing Arts, and that the new course will also have a lot of practice, providing future teachers with an understanding of theater through the scenic game itself.
The Degree in Theater is in line with the inclusion of theater, along with visual arts, dance and music, in the field of arts, integrating the basic education curriculum, through Law No. 13.278/2016. The legislation, which amended the Education Guidelines and Bases Law (LDB), provides that professionals are trained to work in this demand. In order to meet the demand to implement this curricular component in early childhood, elementary and secondary education, the law established a period of five years for education systems to promote teacher training.
Rodrigo believes that, with an expansion of theater teaching in schools and with qualified professionals for this teaching, there will be a positive impact on society, as theater allows us to put ourselves in someone else's shoes, generating a global human vision. “The issue of intolerance and social dichotomies is very pronounced in contemporary times and theater making, which has otherness in its constitution, could have a very positive impact on future generations, by making the individual in their training learn to deal with the differences from your own body”, he observes.
Until the first class of the course enters, the professor explains that meetings will be held with scholars of theater pedagogy, aiming to provide experience for the teaching staff and mature the degree. He also celebrates that, at a time of devaluation of the teaching profession, Unicamp takes this important step.
Entrance
The entry method will consist of three stages. In addition to the entrance exam, the candidate must pass a practical test and an interview.
Course emphasis
The course's pedagogical project, headed by professors Rodrigo Spina and Verônica Fabrini, proposes the articulation between thought, practice and pedagogical strategies, assuming practice as a curricular component as a strategic central line. In this sense, the Degree dialogues with the Bachelor's Degree in Performing Arts, having as a point of connection the emphasis on Theater and Community. This area, little explored in Brazil, is a fertile field for action and research development, producing social impact.
Three thematic axes are foreseen in the degree: Techniques and Training Processes for the Theater Educator (the teacher-pedagogue); Poetics and Languages of the Scene (the teacher-artist) and Art and Context (the teacher-artist-in-the-world).
Labor camp
Graduates will have the possibility of working in schools of all levels of education, technical courses in Theater and higher education courses, working in the preparation, planning, execution and evaluation of theatrical activities. Furthermore, the professional will be able to organize activities that bring together teachers, students, family members and employees, such as exhibitions, cultural events, student festivals, commemorative parties.
Another point of action is in government cultural projects, NGOs, amateur/community theater groups, professional theater groups, preparing workshops, workshops, immersive courses.
The professional may also work in the areas of cultural entrepreneurship, management and cultural production, carrying out the functions of supervision and management of cultural activities, such as: curation, evaluation and execution of projects, organization of events, among others.
