CRUESP statement no. 02/2020
Campinas, January 30, 2020
Regarding the petition recently presented by the Attorney General of the State of São Paulo to the Federal Supreme Court (STF), requesting the revocation of the precautionary measure issued by the presidency of the STF itself, which equated the ceiling
salary of state public universities compared to federal ones, the Council of Rectors of São Paulo State Universities (CRUESP) informs that it is analyzing the case to take the appropriate measures.
It is important to highlight that the implementation of the new salary ceiling, established by the precautionary measure granted on 18/01/2020, by the presidency of the STF, in ADI 6257/DF, will take place after the publication of the preliminary decision.
CRUESP also reiterates that the decision to equalize the ceiling, issued by the presidency of the STF, represents an important step to correct distortions of the Federal Constitution and prevent the flight of professors and researchers from universities
São Paulo states, thus preserving the necessary conditions for them to remain among the best in Latin America, increasingly contributing to the country's sustainable development.
