The University of São Paulo (USP) achieved the best performance among Brazilian higher education institutions, in 14th place.
“A prominent position among the 100 best universities in emerging economies is important. There are thousands of universities in the world, and being among the 100 best is a source of pride, along with other Brazilian public universities”, says the dean of Unicamp, Marcelo Knobel.
Public educational institutions, as the rector notes, are the vast majority among Brazilian universities that appear in the general ranking. THE classified 533 educational institutions. Among these, 46 are Brazilian, 39 of which are public, which represents 85%. Brazil, according to the classification, had the third best performance, behind only China and India.

The THE ranking uses teaching, research, knowledge transfer and internationalization indexes as an analysis parameter. A total of 47 countries entered the ranking of emerging economies, both those classified as advanced emerging, as in the case of Brazil, and those classified as secondary and frontier emerging.
