(update) In accordance with Resolution GR 34/2020, of March 22nd, the extension of the period of suspension of in-person activities at Unicamp was extended until April 30th.
The Unicamp rectory held a meeting this Tuesday (10) with representatives from different sectors of the university community to define an institutional plan to combat the new coronavirus. The intention is to structure, by next Friday, recommendations and guidelines in line with the World Health Organization and Ministry of Health, aimed at teachers, staff and students. The plan will also establish measures related to international mobility, reception of students and procedures for members of the academic community who may present symptoms or who have recently traveled to regions with greater spread of the virus.
The objective is to determine an effective response proportional to the level of risk for the internal community, objectively, but without alarmism. Emphasis will be placed on communication, through posters, social networks and the Unicamp Portal, with the dissemination of information on prevention measures and referral of suspected cases. The meeting was attended by members of the Rectory, Hospital de Clínicas (HC), Community Health Center (Cecom), Institute of Biology, Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Executive Directorate of International Relations, General Directorate of Human Resources (DGRH), Executive Board of Pre-University Education and Executive Secretariat for Communication.
As of this Tuesday (10), Brazil has 34 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. Across the country, there are still 893 suspected cases, according to figures from the Ministry of Health, the majority in the southeast and south regions. In the state of São Paulo, there are 19 confirmed cases. In Rio de Janeiro, there are 8 cases. Only the North Region continues without registering suspected or confirmed cases.
Due to this situation, Unicamp's Community Health Center (Cecom) clarifies to the university public that the transmission of the virus occurs through close contact with infected people and that the symptoms are very similar to those of the flu, the main ones being cough, fever and difficulty breathing. Unicamp students, teachers and employees who have traveled to any of the countries with cases of internal transmission in the last 14 days, or have had contact with a suspected case of coronavirus, and have symptoms, can seek Cecom's Emergency Room from Monday to Friday Monday, from 7am to 17:30pm. When you arrive at the location, simply collect a password, put on a disposable mask available at reception and go to one of the attendants.
