Unicamp's Hospital de Clínicas (HC) puts into practice a new stage of the Contingency Plan to combat COVID-19, the main measure being the suspension of all elective surgeries from 23/03/2020.
Urgent and emergency surgeries are maintained and elective surgeries considered essential will be maintained as assessed by the teams in agreement with the care coordination.
From March 19th (Thursday), procedures and outpatient consultations will also be suspended. Oncology and chemotherapy outpatient clinics, as well as infusion of biological medications and post-operative consultations, will be maintained.
Outpatient care considered essential and requiring continuous attention will be evaluated by the sector's teams.
These are the main measures and will be in force for a period of 60 days and under constant reassessment as the pandemic evolves. The Plan was presented and endorsed by the State Department of Health.
The hospital is also preparing to open an additional 40 ICU beds with all necessary support for future COVID-19 patients.
