Unicamp didn't stop

Unicamp suspended in-person academic activities, the first public university to take this measure, to mitigate the transmission of Covid-19, declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization. The measure, which has been expanded, is absolutely necessary to contain the biggest challenge of this century, which already accounts for more than 400 infections and 20 deaths as of March 25, 2020, just over two months after the first reported cases.

The suspension of in-person academic activities does not mean, however, that Unicamp has stopped. In the best possible way, activities with our students continue in person.

Research continues in laboratories, increasingly focused on contributing to understanding, quickly diagnosing, mitigating, seeking treatments and supplying the health sector with the equipment and resources necessary to face Covid-19. We don't stop for that either.

Health care for the population is intensified in our hospitals so as not to abandon the population.

Students, professors and staff, as well as members of civil society outside the university, are volunteering to help control this crisis.

The administration and maintenance of the university, necessary to fulfill its commitment to society, cannot be carried out entirely via teleworking. People alternate teleworking with in-person work, because it is necessary.

During this crisis, Unicamp redoubles its efforts while its community also shares its attention with its family and friends to face the absolutely necessary isolation.

The photographs show our community in remote and in-person activities to keep the university running and represent everyone who is united in fulfilling our mission.
