Professor Fernando Torres from Imecc dies

Professor Fernando Eduardo Torres Orihuela, from the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Scientific Computing (Imecc) passed away in the early hours of this Thursday. He had been admitted to the Medical Center since May 9th and had complications due to a hospital infection. There is still no news about wake or burial. 

Professor Fernando graduated in Mathematics from PUC in Peru in 1985. He also completed a master's degree in mathematics from PUC in Peru in 1988 and obtained a doctorate in Mathematics from the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) in 1993. He joined as a professor at Unicamp in 1998 and became internationally recognized as a great expert in his area of ​​research.
