Registration for the 10th edition of the Student-Artist Program is now open and continues until July 10th. This year, the proposals presented by students must include the health care necessary to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the program will include artistic manifestation projects that are presented virtually. The details of the notice were presented in a live broadcast held this Tuesday (30). During the meeting, interested students were able to ask questions about the artistic modalities of the program and receive guidance regarding registration and accountability.
"It's not exactly how we imagined it would be, we were making plans for what this 10th edition would be like, something emblematic for the program that is already mature, has a history within the university, and also has external recognition. But as many things had to be rethought, this program also had to be rethought. But it is extremely important that the notice has been released and that you can sign up for this notice", commented professor Helena Altman, coordinator of the Student Support Service (SAE), an organization of Pró -Rector of Undergraduate Studies (PRG) at Unicamp responsible for the program.
As in previous years, the program aims to encourage the arts and encourage artistic events at the University by granting scholarships to undergraduate students. Up to 15 projects will be selected within six categories: performing arts, body arts, visual arts, audiovisual/cinema, music and integrated arts. Each project must have a responsible student proponent, who will receive a grant of R$509,10 for four months. It is possible that the projects will also have the participation of one or two more students, registered as co-authors or assistants. They can also receive scholarships, totaling up to 40 student-artist scholarships. Each selected proposal will also receive additional assistance for execution of up to R$3, depending on the budget presented and the needs of each project.
In addition to the selection criteria already applied in other editions of the program, such as relevance, creativity, artistic quality, cultural interest and benefits to the community, this edition will also evaluate preventive measures in relation to the health of the students involved and the public. Therefore, proposals must provide, for all activities, execution and presentation remotely, within what digital platforms allow.
"For this notice, we took great care. It would be published when the need for quarantine arose, so we waited a while to see how things would go, but we didn't count on the pandemic taking this proportion. One of the precautions we took was to think about the health issue comes first. We wanted to continue with the notice, it is important that it continues, but respecting the issue of health and well-being, not putting anyone at risk", explains professor Maria Cláudia Guimarães, SAE's cultural advisor.

According to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Eliana Amaral, valuing the arts is one of the University's missions and, at this time of pandemic, it is even more important. "The university experience must be something that goes beyond the learning process. It is very necessary that, more and more, we become aware of the difference between the world of university and the world of professional training. The university also has the objective of professional training , but it goes beyond that. It has the objective of humanistic and civic training. Unicamp has stood out for having this broader view of training and this is our role", comments the dean.
The selection stages include project evaluation and interviews with the 25 pre-selected projects. The 15 proposals considered will be announced on August 10th. All details are available on complete edital and other guidance can be obtained through SAE communication channels.
