Research Solidarity is a service that connects researchers across the country who wish to collaborate with each other to advance science, through the exchange, loan or donation of inputs and materials for research. The platform is a solution aimed at the academic-scientific audience of Brazilian higher education institutions, public or private.
The service was created by Campinas State University (Unicamp) in partnership with National Education and Research Network (RNP) and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). Since 2017, these institutions have been united with the same motivation: to offer an innovative platform that encourages scientific production.
Access occurs through the network website. The page was developed to facilitate the request of inputs and materials, in addition to enabling the viewing and publication of offers. The records are organized by area of knowledge: biological, human, exact and technological. Other areas may be considered based on the interest of the research community itself.
Students and teachers from higher education institutions, accredited in Federated Academic Community (CAFe), can participate in Solidarity with Research. Simply access the website and enter with the credentials already used at the institution to which you are linked. This way, those interested in the service will have autonomy to moderate and manage exchanges, loans or donations.
"This is a clear demonstration that public universities, essential for national scientific development and independence, fulfill their role by also collaborating with government bodies by providing communication channels that allow resolving momentary local or national crises, at crucial moments, mainly at a time when resources for science and technology are scarce", highlights the doctor and professor José Antônio Rocha Gontijo, creator of the project.
According to Gontijo, it is not excessive to say that this joint Unicamp-Capes-RNP project was only made possible by the competence and qualifications of the Information Technology Team at the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM). This collaboration network will facilitate interaction between researchers to overcome their difficulties, whether emergency or not.
Additionally, this research support and collaboration network promotes interdisciplinarity between higher education institutions in Brazil, bringing together those who have it with those who need it. The service expands contacts, helps to reduce the distance between participants and favors the development of scientific work.
