Can you be happy amid the pandemic? Students studying in this first semester of 2020 a unprecedented elective course on happiness, offered by the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC) from Unicamp, concluded that yes, it is possible, but this depends on how much we are able to live in community and ensure that everyone is well. With so many people experiencing the difficulties caused by the coronavirus crisis, the approximately 70 students active in the discipline decided to benefit others through a food collection campaign. The donations were delivered to four charities in Campinas last Friday (31).
"During classes, we asked ourselves about the aspects of happiness and we saw the importance of community, of being together for the same purpose. With so many difficult things that people are going through, we thought about taking action and started the campaign", he reports Augusto Moraes de Gouveia (24), student of the Applied and Computational Mathematics course and student of the discipline. He says that the collections were carried out for around two months and, in addition to the mobilization of students, he had the support of the companies Selmi and Alibra, based in the Campinas region.
The food was concentrated at Augusto's house, where representatives of the entities could pick up donations. The entities Esperança sem Limites, responsible for Cidade dos Meninos de Campinas; Perifa Campinas Against Hunger campaign; Seareiros Casa de Jesus; and Women's Christian Union.
