Unicamp Innovation Agency just launched a new channel for the internal community from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) communicate the interest in creating or the existence of academic spin-offs, as those companies created based on research results or knowledge developed at the University are known, with or without intellectual protection.

The channel's intention is to get to know both those interested in entrepreneurship and the spin-offs already created to encourage their consolidation and growth with the support of the Agency's team. In other words, now Unicamp students, researchers and teachers, who are interested in learning about the possibilities for developing a business model based on the University's knowledge, can receive guidance from Inova Unicamp on how to start the initiative and better explore its advantage knowledge-based competition.

the manager of Unicamp Scientific and Technological Park and its incubator, Mariana Zanatta Inglez, explains that among the benefits of spin-off communication, entrepreneurs linked to the University can be guided on how to seek resources and improve their connections in the business environment. According to her, the action is part of Inova Unicamp's mission to identify opportunities and encourage entrepreneurship, especially that based on innovation.

“With this objective in mind, we realized the need to help entrepreneurs or anyone in our community who aspires to undertake business to have a significant impact on the business. And, often, the entrepreneur is unaware of the ways in which Inova can collaborate with the company. But by communicating this interest, we were able to analyze the opportunities and contribute to strengthening this community. For example, even cases of know-how and technologies that cannot be patented and protected can still become a competitive business model. And we, at Inova, can help with these processes.”, explains the manager.

This procedure is part of Unicamp's new integrated technology analysis methodology, which simultaneously analyzes all possibilities for a technology or research result to reach society, whether it is patentable or not.

Other opportunities offered to spin-offs in this communication are assistance in structuring proposals to incubate in Unicamp Technology-Based Business Incubator (Incamp) and to be submitted to the program Fapesp Innovative Research in Small Businesses (PIPE). Registered companies will also be invited to join the activities of the Unicamp group of entrepreneurs, the Unicamp Ventures.

Interested members of the internal community will be able to access the form with Unicamp username and password SISe (Single Password and Permissions System) here: Unicamp spin-off communication form.
