Why agriculture in the city?

In the current pandemic, aspects of access to food, especially fresh fruits and vegetables, are highlighted as a condition for maintaining health and immunity. The 20th DPCT-IG Bulletin addresses the importance of urban agriculture in the context of climate and health emergency.

The production of food for human consumption is approached as a central issue for city dwellers. Among the countless urban agriculture practices, community urban gardens stand out, which establish a set of social, cultural and historical interactions, expanding the perception of the relevance of guaranteeing subsistence conditions and autonomy in supplying cities.
