The big winner of the Inova Jovem 2020 Final, a program designed and promoted by the Inova Unicamp Innovation Agency, was the Medusa team from Colégio Poliedro Campinas. The event took place on the afternoon of the 23rd and brought together more than 300 people interested in seeing the finalists' presentations.
The six finalist teams presented their business model pitches so that the panel could assess which of them was best prepared to take their product or service to the market. The presentations can be viewed in full here.
The 7th Edition of the largest entrepreneurship competition aimed at high school in Brazil was completely online and received entries from 136 teams and more than 500 regular and technical high school students. For the executive director of Inova, the program is of great importance for teaching entrepreneurship even in high school.
“Inova Jovem is one of Inova’s pearls because it brings young people closer to entrepreneurship and innovation, teaching them how to transform ideas into products and services with great socioeconomic impact. Being able to teach this to these talented young people before they even enter university is fantastic. When we see so much talent, we start to believe more in our future”, celebrated Frateschi.
The Medusa team is made up of students Estela Salvi Curi, Luiza Lima Marques and Maria Beatriz Souza Neves. They developed the idea of a sexual violence prevention app for women. The solution aims to bring together various information about sexual abuse, support points and reporting locations for victims, as well as guidance on the Maria da Penha Law.
According to Maria Beatriz Souza Neves, the motivation for developing the application was because laws punish abusers, but do not prevent sexual abuse. Therefore, the team chose to act on prevention and reception, based on the information.
“We are very happy with this result and especially with the opportunity to participate in this incredible Inova program. Thank you to everyone who supported us, our parents, friends and family. And a special thank you for all the support we received from our teachers and the entire team at Colégio Poliédro.” Celebrated Maria Beatriz. The winning team received a prize of one thousand reais per member plus certificates.
In addition to the panel's vote, the Ecology Camp team, formed by students Ana Beatriz Basilio Vallim, Caroline Freitas Zambonato, Claudia Viccário Amantini and Isabelli Meireles Alves from Etec Rodrigues de Abreu, in Bauru-SP, was also awarded in the Popular Vote category. The business model, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), proposes the reuse of tires to manufacture handmade decorative items at competitive prices. The students will receive certificates as winners in the category.
