The State's return to the yellow phase makes Unicamp adjust the resumption calendar again

Note from the Monitoring Committee on the resumption of in-person activities

The Internal Commission for Monitoring Covid-19 recommended the extension of period 3 of the Resumption Plan for in-person activities until 23/12/2020, when the university recess begins. The measure was adopted due to the state government announcing this Monday (30) that the regions of Campinas, Piracicaba, Sorocaba, Greater São Paulo, Baixada Santista and Taubaté have regressed to the yellow phase of the São Paulo Plan, which coordinates the activities in the territory of São Paulo in the context of the pandemic.

The postponement is justified as a necessary security measure to monitor the pandemic, with a view to defining the next actions in a careful and responsible manner. As a result, the start of Period 4, which was scheduled for 14/12/2020, as well as the subsequent stages of the Resumption Plan, will have their start dates defined only after the university recess.

It is important to highlight that this guideline will not harm the scheduled activities, as 21,3% of technical-administrative employees returned, when up to 60% were expected. The recommendation is for units and bodies to continue with predominantly remote activities.

Unicamp's monitoring for resumption is being successful and the community is adhering to the established guidelines, aware of the gravity of the moment. There is, internally, no evidence of a resurgence of the pandemic in the university community.

The University continues to follow the São Paulo Plan with the necessary caution given the seriousness of the situation and will take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of the academic community.

The Commission emphatically reiterates that professional and social activities continue to respect all the precautions recommended by health measures, with an emphasis on maintaining social distancing and the use of protective masks. The pandemic is still present and, therefore, there is a clear need to avoid crowds.
