INSTRUCTION FOLLOW-UP COMMITTEE-04/2020
Note from the Monitoring Committee on the resumption of in-person activities.
At this time of extreme concern about the rise in the number of cases and mortality due to Covid-19, the Monitoring Committee suggests some actions regarding the Recovery Plan. We recently suggested maintaining period 3 of the resumption plan due to the increase in cases and occupancy of intensive beds in the various regions of the State of São Paulo, which led to the regression of the São Paulo Plan to the yellow phase. There are still other aspects to be considered for the future: (1) The diagnosis of influenza and respiratory syncytial virus is not being carried out; (2) there is an imponderable epidemiological variable of a cultural and affective nature (end of year festivities); (3) the uncertainty of the vaccination plan.
In this sense, the Internal Commission for Monitoring Covid-19 recommends:
- The extension of period 3 of the Resumption Plan for in-person activities for an indefinite period.
- The suspension of non-essential face-to-face activities is maintained until 11/01/2021, considering the complete incubation period of COVID-19 from the end of the year holidays;
- For employees and students who will return for the first time in January, there will be continued scheduling of tests, encouragement of the use of the AVISU App, and training through video classes (pillar and compulsory measures of the Resumption Plan);
- All tests of employees or students in exceptional situations or already foreseen in the Period 3 Spreadsheet for return in January/2021, will be maintained and scheduled from 11/01/2021.
- The spreadsheets and return forms for periods P4 and P5 for teachers/staff and P6 for students are open for editing by Unicamp Units/Bodies;
- The testing schedule for students to be enrolled in regular subjects offered at the summer period will be established from 11/01/2021;
- All tests will be carried out and will respect a deadline that allows the results to be published within 72 hours the beginning of technical-administrative and academic activities;
- The recommendation is for Units and Bodies to continue with activities primarily remote;
Unicamp's monitoring for resumption is being successful and the community is adhering to the established guidelines, aware of the gravity of the moment. The University continues to follow the São Paulo Plan with the necessary caution given the seriousness of the situation and will take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of the academic community.
The Commission emphatically reiterates that social gatherings and end-of-year celebrations are restricted, and respect the care recommended by health measures, with an emphasis on maintaining social distancing, non-crowding and systematic use of protective masks. The pandemic is still present and the vaccination of the community, although auspicious, is still unforeseen, and there is, therefore, a clear need to avoid crowds.
