The application of the first doses of the CoronaVac vaccine, which protects against the SARS-CoV-18 virus, to Unicamp professionals began this Monday (2). One of the reference hospitals in the State for the treatment of Covid-19, Unicamp's Hospital de Clínicas (HC) received 4 doses of the vaccine from the State Department of Health, which will enable the immunization of 2 professionals who work directly in care to confirmed or suspected Covid-19 patients in the University's health units. Nursing technician Liana Mascarenhas Tinoco (48) was the first to be vaccinated at Unicamp and in the interior of the State. The start of immunization at HC was attended by governor João Doria, the mayor of Campinas Dário Saadi, rector Marcelo Knobel and other University leaders.
"I found out today! Everyone in my family supported me and congratulated me, encouraged me and said 'Go! It'll work!'", Liana reported with emotion. An HC professional for 14 years, she said that today will be remembered in her memory. The nursing technician also shares that caring for patients with Covid-19 has not been easy and, therefore, appealed to everyone to participate in vaccination: "It's a feeling of victory and gratitude. Since the beginning of the pandemic I I didn't get infected and today I feel much safer working with Covid patients. It's been very difficult, the struggle is great, the situation is difficult for everyone who has been infected, for their families. But I leave the message that everyone has hope that the vaccine will be our solution."

During his visit to Unicamp, Governor João Doria congratulated and thanked all the researchers and health professionals who contributed to the development of CoronaVac, an immunizer that is now beginning to be applied in the country. He also highlighted and thanked the commitment of the health teams working on the front lines in the fight against the pandemic. "All of you expose yourselves, every day, to save lives. Today we have the privilege of vaccinating the first nurse at the Hospital de Clínicas. We are very proud to have a vaccine, a vaccine from Brazil, which is CoronaVac, the vaccine of Butantan", said Doria.
On this first day, 19 vaccines were symbolically administered to employees from different sectors of the Hospital who have direct contact with confirmed or suspected Covid-19 patients. Also today, the first vaccine was administered to an indigenous student at Unicamp, a group included in the first phase of the State of São Paulo's Vaccination Plan. Daniela Rodrigues Andrade (27), indigenous name Potira, is from the Baré ethnic group and born in São Gabriel da Cachoeira (AM). She is a Literature student and hopes to set this example for her family. "I'm happy! I'm going to take this security to my family, who are scared of taking it, but I'm going to convey to them that it's important and healthy", celebrates Daniela.

As superintendent of Hospital de Clínicas, I am proud that HC was chosen as the first place to receive the first dose (of the vaccine) in the interior of São Paulo.
