The COVID ICU bed capacity at Unicamp's Hospital de Clínicas was reinforced, since Monday (22), with 10 new beds, which complemented the 20 already in operation, totaling 30 exclusive ICU beds for the care of serious cases of COVID -19. In addition, there are 34 infirmary beds for patients with the disease.
The agreement with the State Department of Health is worth R$ 11.880.000,00 million and lasts six months. Most of the resources will be consumed on materials and medicines. The multidisciplinary team comprises 54 temporary professionals and will be composed of 10 doctors, 10 nurses, 22 nursing technicians, 7 physiotherapists, 1 pharmacist, 2 pharmacy technicians, 1 nutritionist and 1 hospital administration technician.
The superintendent of Unicamp's HC, Antonio Gonçalves de Oliveira Filho, comments on the importance of the measure. “These beds are the result of intense meetings involving the HC and the DRS-7 Regional Health Directorate, and represent an important achievement for the entire region, as we already did in the first wave of the pandemic”, he notes.
Currently, to enable new beds in Intensive Care Units (ICU), the health establishment must meet the criteria set out in specific legislation and in a resolution from the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and present the “complementary bed” module of the National Registry of Health Establishments (CNES) updated. In the previous agreement, Unicamp's HC had 64 COVID ICU beds until October.
