Samsung reinforces its partnership with the Universities of São Paulo (USP), State of Amazonas (UEA) and State of Campinas (Unicamp) to act directly in the development of the startup market in Brazil. Registration is now open for Ocean Novos Negócios (or Ocean N2), a pre-acceleration program with training in technology and entrepreneurship that will select up to 20 projects to receive free online activities throughout the year. Registration can be made until May 5th at Ocean Novos Negócios website or via the Samsung Ocean app, available for download on the Play Store.

Ocean New Business (Ocean N2), which is part of Samsung Ocean, Samsung's innovation and technological training initiative, has a selection criteria to fulfill its objective of developing the country's technological market. Up to 10 teams will be chosen from the Western Amazon region (comprised of Amazonas, Acre, Roraima and Rondônia) and Amapá and up to 10 from the other regions of Brazil. On May 12th, those selected for the Bootcamp will be announced, an immersive distance training, which will take place between May 18th and 20th.

The program is aimed at startups with an initial level of maturity, which will have direct support from university mentors in their development. UEA professors will directly serve up to 10 teams from the northern region as instructors and mentors, while experts from USP and Unicamp will be in contact with those selected from other regions of Brazil, but in an always integrated action between Ocean units in the three locations, providing exchange of knowledge to generate possible business between participants.

The focus will be on innovative projects for mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, among others. The program will provide support so that solutions can be transformed into relevant products and services in the market. To this end, training, mentoring, training, connections and networks will be offered with a focus on improving projects, developing Minimum Viable Product (MVP) functionalities, promoting hypotheses that solve everyday demands of potential users and customers, facilitating the entry of startups into potential markets of interest and contributing to the creation and structuring of the Business Model. More than 60 hours of free online activities are scheduled for each team.

"Samsung's purpose is to empower people through technology and Ocean Novos Negócios (Ocean N2) reinforces our objective with a proposal that provides the opportunity for new talents to be inserted into the market more efficiently. Without financial compensation for participating in the program, startups will improve their projects with practical training, mentoring and lectures from professors and students from UEA, Unicamp and USP, professionals from Samsung and partners, in addition to receiving free training in technological and entrepreneurship disciplines and maintain contact with teams from all over Brazil and entrepreneurial ecosystems at Samsung and universities”, says Eduardo Conejo, Senior Innovation Manager in the Research and Development area at Samsung.

Selected projects that complete Ocean Novos Negócios will receive a certificate of participation issued by Samsung Ocean and an official refresher course certificate issued by UEA and USP.
