The Social Actions Front and the Diagnostics Front of the Task Force against Covid-19 at Unicamp carried out, this Wednesday morning (19), more than 200 free tests on the population in the Jardim São Marcos region. There were 109 PCR tests and another 100 rapid tests with the aim of identifying positive cases (even if not symptomatic) and thus preventing new transmissions. The project is a Unicamp initiative in support of the Unified Health System (SUS), in partnership with the neighborhood Parish (Padre Antonio) and the Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT). PCR test results must be released within 24 hours.
Last week, tests were carried out in the Vila Paula occupation. 70 tests were carried out there and 5 positive cases were identified and sent to the local Health Center. According to professor Sávio Machado Cavalcante, coordinator of the action, the tests are being carried out in populations and territories with greater vulnerability, mostly workers who would not be able to pay for the procedure. “It would be the State's obligation to offer this testing, especially for those people who need to go to work and are unable to afford the test costs”, he highlights.
In addition to the recent programming, other regions were reached with testing by the Task Force's Social Actions Front, as was the case last year in Vila Soma, based on an agreement with the City of Sumaré. In April this year, the Social Actions Front carried out testing on trans and transvestite women in two shelters in São Paulo.
