A daughter company of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and installed in the Scientific and Technological Park of Unicamp, PITEC emerged in 2017 to take on the development and production of X-ray detectors used in scientific research at the synchrotron light particle accelerator of the Brazil. The equipment is essential for carrying out scientific experiments that are carried out in the Sirius in Campinas, such as the study of molecular structures that can help in the development of medicines against serious diseases.
The partnership signed between PITEC, from the Idea! Group, and National Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) it involved efforts on both sides. While the company mainly provided the technological part, Sirius offered physical and scientific knowledge of the process. According to Paulo Bertolo, operations director at PITEC, the Sirius team, from the beginning, identified the company as a know-how (set of technical and practical knowledge) with all the competence and quality of specialists they needed to develop the detectors. “We were and still are capable of offering all the technologies that our main partner, Sírius, needs", he explains.
