Within the Unicamp Scientific and Technological Park and under the management of Unicamp Innovation Agency (Inova), the Unicamp Technology-Based Business Incubator (Incamp) operates, a program that goes beyond access to the University's infrastructure and scientific ecosystem, offering training, mentoring and support in the development of technological businesses in the early stages.
Celebrating its 20 years of existence, the Incubator has already graduated 54 Unicamp daughter companies and today has 13 startups in the incubation and pre-incubation process, in addition to six other startups that are about to start their programs in the second half of 2021. After complete incubation programs, these ventures graduated by Incamp enter the registry of daughter companies of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp).
Incamp’s role in the formation of daughter companies
In 2020, the milestone of more than a thousand daughter companies registered by the Unicamp Innovation Agency (Inova) was reached, with a total of 1038 enterprises. The startups graduated from Incamp that made it to the list of daughters represent 7% of this total, emphasizing Incamp's active participation.
“The recognition of Incamp’s efforts goes beyond the number of graduated daughter companies. We are recognized for our excellence in the incubation program, as we are the only incubator in the State of São Paulo to receive certification as “Reference Center for Support for New Enterprises (Cerne)”, offered by Anprotec and Sebrae in recognition of the implementation of good practices in incubation”, celebrates Mariana Zanatta, manager of the Scientific and Technological Park at Unicamp and the Incubator, about the achievements of two decades of work.
Although Incamp is located within the Unicamp Scientific Park, there is no need for a link with the University to participate in incubation programs. Any company interested in boosting its business based on the training offered by Incamp can submit its proposals in public notices open throughout the year and evaluated twice in the same period by semi-annual panels.
“We have several examples of companies that had no connection with Unicamp and still sought out the Incubation programs and today, they are part of the our community”, says Zanatta Inglez.
