The construction of the Regional Hospital, linked to Unicamp and designed to serve the population of more than 70 cities in the State, was discussed with the governor of São Paulo, João Doria, on Monday afternoon (22/11). "The Regional Hospital is a demand from the metropolitan region, its city halls and other city halls in the surrounding regions, expanding the supply of beds to the entire population residing close to Campinas. It will be complementary health equipment to the HC, making it possible to better serve the region's population and also better organize the relationship between Unicamp's entire health care area with the SUS and the Regional Health Departments (DRS) close to ours. city. Emergency and medium complexity care can be provided in this new hospital structure and high complexity care will be concentrated in our HC. Likewise, we will provide more training opportunities for our undergraduates, residents and postgraduate students", pointed out the rector. According to him, the governor opened the doors to follow up on the proposal. Unicamp will provide an area, close to the Hospital de Clínicas, for the construction of the Hospital, which will have capacity for 400 beds for highly complex care.Preliminary studies indicate investments of around R$320 million for the work and something around R$300 million for annual costs.
According to the rector, the governor believes it is possible for the State, through the Department of Health, to build the Regional Hospital, but its costs will have to be divided between the State, Municipalities and the Unified Health Service (SUS). “We have to move forward with negotiations and refine the way in which the unit is funded, without causing losses to the parties. We have the demand and we will fulfill all phases with extreme responsibility”, he explained.
SUS adjustment table
The general coordinator, Maria Luiza Moretti, also evaluated the meeting with the governor as positive, and recalled the need to readjust the adjustment table of the Unified Health System (SUS). “We took an important step today, and the actions to be taken are increasingly clear. In particular, in our fight to readjust the SUS, so that we have resources that allow us to maintain the excellent service offered by the Unicamp health area,” she said. Grassiotto highlighted that, with the meeting, the technical and financial viability of the project became clear. The director highlights that the new hospital will serve residents of Regional Health Directorates 7, 10 and 14, an area with more than seven million inhabitants in total.
"I have been committed to the Regional Hospital construction project from the beginning. You can count on our engagement so that it gets off the ground and becomes a reality for the region”, stated federal deputy Baleia Rossi. The parliamentarian also committed to taking the proposal to the 70 federal deputies on the São Paulo bench and, in doing so, raising resources both for the preparation of the executive project for the work and for its construction.
The Metropolitan Region of Campinas has three medical schools. For the State Health Secretary, Jean Gorinchteyn, this particularity is very positive, as it favors the search for human resources. If an agreement is reached, the State Government will be informed and measures will be taken to proceed with the project.
