Last Friday, January 7th, the Prof. Dental Clinic was reopened. Dr. Zeferino Vaz, from the Faculty of Dentistry of Piracicaba (FOP). The site underwent extensive renovations to comply with the health protocols established by the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Covid-19 pandemic. The Clinic resumed patient care this Monday, January 10th.
The event was attended by the general coordinator of the University, Maria Luiza Moretti, representing the rector Antonio José de Almeida Meirelles, state deputy Roberto de Morais, the director of the FOP, Francisco Haiter Neto, as well as teachers and staff from the institution. Haiter Neto presented a tribute plaque to the parliamentarian for his contribution to amendments that made it possible to acquire the CAD/CAM equipment. It is a scanner and a milling machine for making individual ceramic prostheses.
The Dental Clinic serves the population of Piracicaba and the region free of charge. In its original version, it had 90 service boxes. After the renovation, there will be 35 boxes fully adapted to the current reality. Each box is air-conditioned and equipped with a HEPA filter, dental chair, sink and terminal for accessing the electronic medical record system.
The director of the Faculty of Dentistry recalled that the renovation took almost a year. The masonry work was carried out by the Unicamp Development Foundation (Funcamp) team. The data network installation and configuration process, and the structured cabling project (Server, Rack, Patch Panel, Switch, Wi-Fi), were carried out by the FOP IT team. According to the coordinator of the Faculty's IT Area, Jonathan Souza Pinheiro, the data network was designed to guarantee security and excellent system performance. The total investment was around R$800 thousand.
