The Permanent Commission for Unicamp Entrance Exams (Comvest) registered 2.805 applicants for the 2022 Indigenous Entrance Exam, the first year of the unified selection between UFSCar and Unicamp for the admission of indigenous students to different undergraduate courses at the two universities. Free registrations closed on January 20th. At UFSCar, this is the 15th edition of the entry modality for indigenous students and at Unicamp, the fourth. In the last edition offered separately, universities totaled 2.409 registrations, 1.697 at Unicamp and 712 at UFSCar. Unicamp offers 130 places, distributed across all courses at the University, and UFSCar offers up to two places, in 65 different course options.

For the director of Comvest, José Alves de Freitas Neto, the number recorded represents a great achievement for the students and for the two universities. “It signals that the joint work of two important public universities, Unicamp and UFSCar, together for the first time to carry out this entrance exam, was very well received by the students. They are two institutions committed to the inclusion of indigenous peoples and that work, within their perspectives, to be universities with increasingly greater representation of all students”, stated José Alves.

Change

Comvest announced a change in the exam date. Initially scheduled for March 13th, the test is being moved to March 27th, due to the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and the expectation of a decrease in cases by the end of March. The test will be administered in person, in six cities across the country: Campinas (SP), Recife (PE), Dourados (MS), São Gabriel da Cachoeira (AM), Manaus (AM) and Tabatinga (AM). The city of Bauru did not reach the minimum number of 50 registrants and, according to Comvest, as foreseen by the rules of the Notice of the process, the exam will not be applied. Candidates who had chosen the city of Bauru must take the test in Campinas.

The city that recorded the highest demand to take the test is São Gabriel da Cachoeira, in Amazonas, with 933 candidates. Tabatinga, also in Amazonas, is the second city with the highest demand for the 2022 Indigenous Entrance Exam, with 780 applicants. Comvest informed that it will publish the addresses of the exam locations on February 18th, on the Indigenous Vestibular website.

José Alves highlighted that the greater number of registrants also increases the responsibility in administering the test, especially given the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic. The director of Comvest stated: “we have a new challenge: adapting the spaces in schools to receive, with health security and all the protocols required by the authorities, students in all the cities where we will take the test. We even hope for a reduction in abstention in relation to the previous process”, explained José Alves.

Competition

At both universities, the courses with the greatest demand were those in the health/biological area. At UFSCar, Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy registered the greatest demands and, at Unicamp, Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry and Pharmacy were the most sought after courses in the 2022 Indigenous Entrance Exam.

The test will be in Portuguese, composed of multiple choice questions and an essay, as follows: Languages and codes (14 questions); Natural Sciences (12 questions); Mathematics (12 questions); Human Sciences (12 questions); and an essay. The study program for the test is now available in the notices, on the Comvest and UFSCar pages. Candidates for the Music Degree course at Unicamp and UFSCar, in addition to the tests above, must take the Specific Skills Test in Music, with the electronic submission of videos, until February 8th, via the Indigenous Entrance Exam 2022 page, on the Comvest website.

Candidates must prove that they belong to one of the indigenous ethnicities of Brazilian territory, through the documentation specified in the Notice, to be delivered on the day of the test. The Indigenous Entrance Exam only accepts students who have completed high school entirely in the public network (municipal, state, federal), or in indigenous schools recognized by the public education network or have obtained high school certification from ENEM or official exams (e.g. , Enceja) and have not attended any period of high school in the private network.
