The Permanent Commission for Unicamp Entrance Exams (Comvest) administered the test for the first edition of the Unicamp-UFSCar Unified Indigenous Entrance Exam last Sunday (27/3).. In total, 1.441 students took the exam, in six cities across the country: Campinas (SP), Dourados (MS), Recife (PE), Manaus (AM), São Gabriel da Cachoeira (AM) and Tabatinga (AM). Comvest recorded a drop in abstention rates compared to the previous edition - from 57,6% to 48,6%. Of the 2.805 registered, 1.364 did not show up to take the test. In the cities with the highest number of registered participants, São Gabriel da Cachoeira and Tabatinga, the absentee rate was slightly lower than the general abstention rate: 40,2% and 44,6% respectively. The table with indices by city is available on the Comvest page: www.comvest.unicamp.br.
For the director of Comvest, José Alves de Freitas Neto, it is necessary to consider abstention within the particularity of registrations and the long distances traveled by indigenous candidates to the test sites. “The decrease in abstention, in the 2022 edition, is related to the Unicamp-UFSCar unified entrance exam, and the single test. Another aspect is the offer of places in all Unicamp courses, for the first time,” he stated.
The proof is available on the Comvest page. The answer sheet will be released later this week. The exam consisted of an essay and 50 multiple-choice questions, distributed as follows: Languages and codes (14 questions); Natural Sciences (12 questions); Mathematics (12 questions); Human Sciences (12 questions).
Unified Entrance Exam
According to José Alves, the unified entrance exam benefits students, given the less effort involved in taking a single test, and the shorter commute. Regarding the challenges of this edition, he highlighted: “The greater number of candidates indicates that affirmative actions for indigenous peoples are fundamental. We live in a time of attacks on their lands and cultures. Having them in greater numbers at universities is a way of learning from them and giving more visibility to demands that belong to all humanity”, argued José Alves.
Publication of those approved
Comvest will publish the first call for candidates to enroll on April 18th, on its website. Registration must be carried out online, on the Combest website, from 9 am on April 19th until 17 pm on April 26th. The second call will be announced on May 2nd. Up to five calls are planned.
At UFSCar, this is the 15th edition of the admission modality for indigenous students. At Unicamp, the fourth. Unicamp offers 130 places, distributed across all courses; UFSCar offers up to two places, in 65 different course options. In the last edition, offered separately, universities totaled 2.409 registrations, 1.697 at Unicamp and 712 at UFSCar.
