The inclusion policy encouraged access to higher education for students from the most diverse social and economic backgrounds. Currently, almost half of the students enrolled at Unicamp have an income of up to 1,5 minimum wages per family member. This reality makes it difficult to stay at university. Therefore, a retention policy seeks to help students be able to complete their courses.
At Unicamp, it covers social grants, food, housing, pedagogical guidance, medical and mental health care. Due to the increase in demand, Unicamp approved, for 2022, a budget for permanence that is approximately 30% higher than that for 2021, allowing for an adjustment in the value of scholarships and an increase in the number of recipients.
