Governor Rodrigo Garcia and the State Secretary of Health, Jean Gorinchteyn, confirmed, on Thursday (26/5), the opening of 31 new pediatric beds at the Hospital de Clínicas da Unicamp and at the Hospital Estadual Sumaré (HES-Unicamp). The HC Assistance Coordinator, Elaine Cristina de Ataíde, represented the hospital superintendent at the ceremony, which took place during Garcia's visit to the Specialties Medical Outpatient Clinic (AME-Campinas).
According to Gorinchteyn, from June 1st, there will be 16 new beds in the HC, six of which will be in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 10 in semi-intensive care. Sumaré State Hospital will receive funding for five more ICU beds, five semi-intensive ICU beds and five pediatric emergency beds. The new vacancies will be regulated by the state's Health Services Supply Regulation Center (Cross).
Elaine de Ataíde explained that negotiations with the State and the city of Campinas to open and pay for the beds began around 15 days ago. “We held several meetings to quickly evaluate a way to put these beds into operation. Thus, we reaffirm our commitment to the State to minimize the problem of respiratory diseases in children in the region”, she detailed.
The São Paulo Government's investment will be R$2 million to maintain these beds until the end of September, covering the seasonality period for respiratory diseases. Its main cause is the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which causes bronchiolitis and childhood pneumonia. “The opening of the 31 beds is an initial effort, which will continue. DRS-7 is mapping, together with RMC city halls, the options for expanding new beds,” said Garcia.
Also in Campinas, the governor made the official announcement of the Mutirão de Cirurgias program for the region, which has around 71,4 procedures contained in the Cross system (Centers for the Regulation of Health Service Offers). The initiative provides for extra surgeries in the state network, double remuneration in SUS hospitals and the contracting of services in the private network and philanthropic hospitals.
