In a recent speech at Palácio da Alvorada, the President of the Republic made statements about the Brazilian electoral process that are not supported by real facts and were a source of indignation and embarrassment on a national and international level.
Due to such allegations, the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), in accordance with its ethical and political duty in defense of the Democratic Rule of Law, expresses its support for the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and highlights the importance and seriousness of the work that This institution develops, particularly with regard to the electronic voting system, in force in the country since 1996.
Unicamp clarifies that it participates in the Elections Transparency Commission and that, recently, together with other universities, it entered into a partnership with the TSE to expand oversight and transparency of the electoral process. The University understands that such actions demonstrate the commitment of these institutions to the continuous improvement of the electoral system, its fairness and popular sovereignty.
Unicamp, aligned with the principles of the 1988 Constitution, reiterates its commitment to the truth and repudiates any actions that may contribute to constitutional rupture.
