The Permanent Commission for Unicamp Entrance Exams (Comvest) opened registrations for the Unicamp 2023 Entrance Exam this Monday, August 1st. Registrations may be made by September 2nd, exclusively online, using a form available on the Comvest website: https://www.comvest.unicamp.br/vestibular-2023/. The Unicamp 2023 Entrance Exam offers 2.540 places distributed across 69 courses, around 80% of admission places at the University. The registration fee is 192,00 reais and can be paid until September 9th. It is possible to take up to two course options, as long as they are in the same area. One of the new features of this edition is that Comvest will bring forward the second phase of the Entrance Exam to December 2022, thus, the two application stages of the entrance exam will be carried out later this year. Previously, the second phase would be held in January 2023. The objective is to bring forward the call process for those approved, with the first call announced at the beginning of February 2023.
The rector of Unicamp, professor Antônio Meirelles, highlighted the importance of the Vestibular for society and, during the Vestibular launch event, reaffirmed the University's commitment to the production of scientific knowledge. “The Entrance Exam is one of the University’s activities that generates the most interaction with society and, therefore, is of enormous importance, as it embodies Unicamp’s values, which are fundamental to remember today, such as innovation and social inclusion, essential to the future of our country”, he stated.
Also in this sense, the director of Comvest, professor José Alves de Freitas Neto, highlighted the responsibility of the Entrance Exam Committee in addition to selecting students to enter Unicamp. “Our tests boost basic education and have an important impact on society. Considering the current context, the role of the Unicamp Vestibular is fundamental in defending human rights and science, and this is reflected in our tests”, defended José Alves.
Dates
The first phase of the Unicamp 2023 Entrance Exam will be held on the day 6 November 2022, and the second phase on the days 11 and 12 December 2022. Before the first phase, there will be Specific Skills tests for candidates for Music courses (with videos sent online, between September 19th and 30th). For candidates for the Architecture and Urban Planning, Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Dance courses, the Specific Skills tests will take place between January 4th and 6th, 2023.
Social inclusion
There are two new features that benefit public school students and quota holders. One of them is the early registration of candidates from public schools, in the Enem-Unicamp modality, which integrates the different ways of entering the University's undergraduate courses. When registering for the 2023 Entrance Examination, candidates from public schools who opted for the PAAIS (high school option) and/or ethnic-racial quotas will already be automatically and free of charge enrolled in the Enem-Unicamp 2023 modality, with no need for new registration in November.
Last year, the Enem-Unicamp modality, which offers around 20% of admission places at Unicamp, registered 13,4 thousand applicants, who competed for 639 places in different courses.
Still within the scope of social inclusion, to verify the self-declaration of candidates opting for ethnic-racial quotas, Comvest will adopt a two-step verification procedure: first by photograph and then, if necessary, by supplementation online. Comvest will use photographs that are normally collected during the second phase of the entrance exam. Thus, all approved quota candidate candidates, who authorize the use of the collected photographs, who have their self-declarations validated by the verification committee, based on the photographs, will be released from the second stage. The second step is the verification procedure online, by appointment, carried out by verification boards, which has been used in recent years. Comvest emphasizes that the image analysis stage will not exclude any candidate, being valid only for positive opinions in the self-declaration validation process. Important: there is no use of facial recognition technology at any stage of the process.
Adjustment in tests
Regarding the format of the tests, the director of Comvest announced that the Commission will maintain 72 multiple choice questions in the first phase, with five hours of testing. JIn the second phase, there will be a reduction in two questions in the Language test and the transfer of the two interdisciplinary natural science questions to the first day of the test. According to Comvest, the adjustment will allow candidates more time to answer the questions, especially on the second day of the tests. The maximum time for completing the second phase is maintained at five hours on each test day.
Cities
The first phase will be applied in the State of São Paulo, in 31 cities: Araçatuba, Barueri, Bauru, Botucatu, Bragança Paulista, Campinas, Franca, Guarulhos, Indaiatuba, Jundiaí, Limeira, Lorena, Marília, Mogi das Cruzes, Mogi Guaçu, Osasco, Piracicaba, Presidente Prudente, Ribeirão Preto, Santa Bárbara D'Oeste, Santo André, Santos, São Bernardo do Campo, São Carlos, São João da Boa Vista, São José do Rio Preto, São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Sorocaba, Sumaré and Valinhos.
Outside the State of São Paulo, they receive the Unicamp Vestibular exams five capitals: Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Curitiba, Fortaleza and Salvador.
