The so-called "New Secondary Education", which began to be implemented this year, should reach all schools in the country by 2024, as provided for in Law No. 13.415/2017, sanctioned by then president Michel Temer.
The promise of a new model of learning by areas of knowledge, in which students would have more freedom of choice in relation to their training, does not seem to be materializing in schools that have already adhered to the new curriculum, criticized both by experts and educators and by students themselves.
According to Ivan Mariano, Chemistry teacher at Escola Estadual Dom João Nery, in Campinas, this first semester of changes frustrated many students. For Nora Krawczyk, professor at the Faculty of Education at Unicamp, the ongoing reform should be revoked, since, in addition to not solving the historical problems of secondary education in the country, it is creating others.
