A special concert celebrates 40 years of the Unicamp Symphony Orchestra (OSU) and pays homage to three important names in its history: Benito Juarez (in memoriam), Cyro Pereira (in memoriam) and Raul do Valle. The free performance takes place this Thursday (18), at 20 pm, at Teatro Castro Mendes, in Campinas. Tickets must be collected at the box office one hour in advance.
In an interview with Unicamp reporter, a The Orchestra's main conductor, Cinthia Alireti, said that the remarkable fact of this concert is that it was planned and organized by the Orchestra's own musicians, who made a point of not only taking care of the details of the production but also of inviting, to participate in the event, musicians and partners that emerged throughout these four decades of its history. “I think it will be a surprising, exciting concert. The musicians are already excited about this work. It will be a concert that will bring more than music to people. You will remember, through stories and stories, what [the Orchestra] was like and what it became”, said the conductor.
The concert will open with the premiere of “Celebração”, a work created especially to celebrate OSU’s 40th anniversary by the composer and retired Unicamp professor Raul do Valle. At 86 years old, he was present at the first general rehearsal held with main musicians and guests. And he was thrilled to hear the work for the first time. “The musician only has this pleasure. I don't do it for money. I offered this song and did all the preparation of the work for them, and it is a pleasure to listen to. And it’s good because we pass by, and the works remain: that’s what matters,” he said.
