President of Cruesp (Council of Rectors of São Paulo State Universities), the rector of Unicamp, professor Antonio José de Almeida Meirelles, received, on the afternoon of this Tuesday (18), representatives of the so-called Forum of Six – a meeting of entities representing teachers and employees from USP, Unesp and Unicamp.
The meeting – which was attended by the general coordinator of Unicamp, Maria Luiza Moretti, and the pro-rectors João Marcos Travassos Romano (Research) and Fernando Sarti (University Development) – lasted more than two hours and ended up concluding with the need for define a work schedule, which should include new meetings to discuss the future salary campaign and related issues.
According to the Council's executive secretary, professor Paulo César Montagner, the meeting was “extremely productive”, as it kept the dialogue channel with the entities open.
“We had many difficulties during the pandemic, and holding a face-to-face meeting at this time is already a victory for all of us,” said Montagner. “The most important thing at this moment is that we have managed to build an initial path for dialogue,” he added.
Pro-Rector Fernando Sarti was in favor of scheduling new meetings. “We have to sit down and discuss calmly. It will not be in a meeting that we will be able to come up with a decision”, he argued.
The dean said he will take the employees' suggestions to a Cruesp meeting and submit the topics to be debated with the other deans. The Forum of Six states that it wants to discuss the replacement of salary losses, the valorization of initial career levels and the beginning of the work of a Wage Working Group (GT).
