Unicamp recorded good placements in the 2023 World University Rankings by areas of knowledge. The University is between the 151 and 600 best educational institutions in the world in 9 of the 11 areas of knowledge that make up the ranking. The best placements were recorded in the Education, Arts and Humanities sectors.
The only areas in which Unicamp did not obtain scores were Law and Psychology, which are not covered by the University's courses (see details below). The survey was released this Tuesday (25) and prepared by the British consultancy Times Higher Education (THE), one of the most prestigious institutions in the educational rankings sector.
Unicamp's positions in the nine areas are:
Arts and Humanities: position between 176 and 200;
Business and Economics: 501-600;
Medicine and Health: 301-400;
Computer Science: 301-400;
Education: 151-175;
Engineering: 401-500;
Life Sciences: 201-250;
Physical Sciences: 501-600;
Social Sciences: 301-400.
The two areas highlighted in the ranking saw significant progress from the 2022 edition to this one. Last year, Education was between positions 251 and 300 and Arts and Humanities was between positions 201 and 250. The area of Computer Science also rose in the ranking: in the 2022 edition of the survey, the university was between positions 401 and 500.
According to the consultancy, Unicamp is the second best university in the country, surpassed only by the University of São Paulo (USP). The world ranking was released on October 11 and evaluated 1.799 educational institutions from 104 countries. In the general classification, Unicamp is ranked between 401 and 500 in the world. The list is headed by the University of Oxford, in the United Kingdom, followed by Harvard University, in the United States.
In the Latin American ranking, Unicamp is the third best institution on the continent. The list is led by the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, followed by USP. Among the criteria used for the evaluation, the university stood out in the Research category, achieving 100 total points in the evaluation.
