Celebrate and recognize the teaching, research and extension activities developed by Unicamp professors, as well as the performance of students from the Cotil and Cotuca technical courses: this was the objective of the 2022 Institutional Awards presentation, held on December 2nd at the Center of University Conventions. In total, there were six awards, which benefited more than 60 members of the community from all of the University's campuses.
The ceremony was attended by the dean of Unicamp, Antonio José Meirelles, the general coordinator, Maria Luiza Moretti, the pro-rector of Undergraduate Studies, Ivan Felizardo Contrera Toro, the pro-rector of Extension and Culture, Fernando Santos Coelho, professor Raluca Savu , advisor to the Coordination of Centers and Centers (Cocen), representing the organization's coordinator, Ana Carolina Maciel, the executive director of Pre-University Education, Cristiane Maria Megid, the associate director of the Limeira Technical Course (Cotil), Marcelo Dotti, representing the director of the institution, Augusto César Oliveira, and the director of the Campinas Technical Course (Cotuca), Luiz Seabra Junior.
“The group of award winners included in this event is proof of a university that is constantly changing. We have a great diversity of gender, age and career stages here”, says rector Antonio Meirelles, who, together with coordinator Maria Luiza Moretti, presented the “Zeferino Vaz” Academic Recognition Award, given to teachers who stood out in their teaching, research and extension functions. “We need to combine research and extension because, in doing so, we will be defending all the science, knowledge and technology produced here”, he highlights.
In addition to the “Zeferino Vaz” award, the Teacher Recognition Award for Dedication to Undergraduate Teaching, presented by Ivan Felizardo, was also awarded at the ceremony; the Proec University Extension Award, presented by Fernando Santos Coelho; the Academic Recognition Award for Researchers in the Research Career, presented by Raluca Savu; the Teaching Recognition Award for Dedication to Secondary Technical Teaching, presented by Cristiane Maria Megid; and the Student Recognition Award for Performance in their Technical Training from Unicamp Technical Colleges, awarded to students enrolled at Cotil or Cotuca, presented by Marcelo Dotti and Luiz Seabra Junior.
For general coordinator Maria Luiza Moretti, the teachers and students included in the award are important models for students, who will follow the example set by them in their training and professional lives. In her speech, she also highlighted the importance of student inclusion and retention projects, which have been a frequent topic of discussion for the University's collegiate bodies. “Unicamp expands and continues to invest in access to quality education and equal opportunities. Education is transformative and I think each of us present here knows that we would not have had the opportunities that we did if it were not for education,” she argues.
