The Pro-Rector of Extension and Culture has the mission of bringing the University closer to the community, through interaction and integration actions, highlights Pro-Rector Fernando Coelho. This was the case in 2022, in a remarkable context of great celebrations, such as the centenary of the 1922 Modern Art Week, the bicentenary of Independence, the 40th anniversary of the Unicamp Symphony Orchestra, among others.
These important dates generated many artistic activities, workshops, book launches and actions with other public universities in São Paulo, such as the meeting of the three Orchestras at the Memorial da América Latina, in celebration of the centenary of the Modern Art Week. A workshop is scheduled for 2023, which aims to bring the Orchestras together again for a week of art and music.
Coelho highlights the beginning of the process of integrating extension activities into undergraduate education, which will increase the number of students in activities with the external community. This integration was stimulated in 2022, through dialogue with public authorities and social organizations, and should be strengthened in 2023, with the finalization of the cooperation agreement between Unicamp and the city of Piracicaba, and cultural actions in the district of Barão Gerald.
The Covid-19 Memorial project is also remembered as a tribute to the victims of the pandemic and as a reflection on science's struggle to overcome humanity's challenges.
The "What's new" series is carried out by the Executive Secretariat for Communication (SEC). Every month, there will be new videos with updates on the actions carried out by the Pro-Rectors and General Coordination teams at Unicamp.
